Terms and Conditions
The Terms and Conditions relating to the services offered by Engaged Canine Services, including both walking and training services.
1. Definitions

Trainer: Refers to Engaged Canine Services, providing dog training services.

Client: The individual or entity engaging the trainer’s services.

Dog: The canine pet owned by the client, subject to the training services.
-
Services: Includes but is not limited to, walking, ‘Walk and Train’ services, 121 training, group training, socialisation, and initial consultation.

2. Booking and Payments

All bookings are subject to availability.
-
Full payment or a deposit (as specified) is required at the time of booking confirmation or when payment request is sent - usually 1 week prior to the session.

Payment methods accepted: bank transfer (via payment links through the ‘Go Get Paid’ provider), cash
-
Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may result in the full session/course fee being charged, this will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

All deposits are non-refundable, where possible we will endeavour to reschedule your service to another available date when notice is given.

3. Cancellations and Refunds

The trainer reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a service due to unforeseen circumstances. This includes extreme weather conditions, and accidents and so, notice will be given to the client as early as circumstances allow, however in some instances this may be limited.

In the event of trainer cancellation, clients will be offered a rescheduled session.

Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late may have their session shortened or cancelled without refund.

4. Client Responsibilities

The client agrees to:

Provide accurate and truthful information about their dog’s health, behaviour, and history.

Ensure their dog is up to date with health checks, vaccinations, flea, and worm treatments.

Follow the trainer's instructions and practice techniques consistently between sessions.

Keep their dog on a lead or harness unless instructed otherwise.

The trainer reserves the right to refuse service if a dog is deemed aggressive, ill, or in distress.

5. Dog Behaviour and Liability

The trainer will use positive reinforcement techniques and best practices to train dogs.
-
The client accepts full responsibility for their dog’s behaviour and actions during and after training sessions.

The trainer has full public liability cover for all services being carried out, including both training and walking. Engaged Canine Services makes every effort to ensure the safety of both their client and dogs during sessions. Although Engaged Canine Services is fully insured, when confirming a booking, you accept that there are risks involved when working with dogs and this can result in injury to those humans or dogs involved. You agree that Engaged Canine Services cannot be held responsible for any personal injury or damage to property during 1-2-1 sessions either inside or outside your home

The trainer is not liable for:

Any injury, loss, or damage caused by the client’s dog to itself, people, other animals, or property during or after training.

Any incidents that occur while walking or training the dog in public spaces, including but not limited to:
-
Dog altercations or attacks.
-
Damage to third-party property.
-
The dog escaping or running away.
-
Legal repercussions or fines arising from the dog’s behaviour in public.
-
The trainer strongly recommends that clients have adequate public liability insurance to cover any incidents involving their dog.

The client agrees that it is the law in the UK to have an up-to-date microchip and accurate ID tag on their dog when they are in public spaces.

The trainer reserves the right to place an identifying tag on the dog whilst in their care should the owner fail to do so. This tag may be attached to a collar or harness. Failure to agree with this could result in the services being cancelled.

6. Health and Safety

Dogs with known health issues must be disclosed to the trainer before walking/training, to ensure top levels of safety and well being.

This also includes timing of seasons in entire bitches, in the case a bitch comes into season you agree that only solo services may be carried out and the trainer reserves the right to reschedule these if deemed necessary.

The trainer reserves the right to refuse service if the dog appears unwell.

The Client agrees to ensure their dog has not eaten in the hour before or after pick up by Engaged Canine Services to ensure sufficient time to digest food before any exercise or play. Failure to do so may result in the potentially life-threatening condition Bloat (Gastric Torsion).

Emergency Protocols: We have established procedures for medical emergencies, including immediate veterinary contact and owner notification. Ellie is a qualified Canine First Aid Instructor (Level 3) and has completed Human First Aid training also (Level The Client authorises the staff of Engaged Canine Services to seek such veterinary advice and/or treatment as they deem necessary; where possible this will be carried out by the Client’s usual/preferred Vet, but this cannot be guaranteed (e.g. in an emergency) and the Client accepts that the staff of Engaged Canine Services may at their discretion use any registered Vet.

Dogs must be kept on a lead in public areas unless in a designated off-lead zone.

In group classes, clients are responsible for keeping their dogs under control at all times.

Any relevant human medical conditions should also be disclosed to the trainer to ensure training is adapted appropriately and safely to human needs and to keep our sessions as safe as possible for both human and dog.

Training sessions can only be undertaken by persons 18 or over. If you are under 18 then there must be a responsible adult present at all times.

Aversive training equipment will not be permitted during walking/training. If these forms of equipment are used, we reserve the right to cease our working relationship. This includes choke chains, prong collars, electronic collars and any device that causes pain and discomfort.

Engaged Canine Services offer services where dogs socialize in pairs/groups and the Client accepts that during the course of normal dog play their dog may sustain injuries. All dog play is carefully monitored to avoid injury, but scratches, punctures, torn ligaments, or other injuries may occur despite the best supervision.

7. Confidentiality and Privacy

All client and dog information will be kept confidential and will not be shared with third parties without consent, except as required by law. Email addresses may be used to inform clients of activities and services provided by Engaged Canine Services.

As standard, you will receive communications from Engaged Canine Services, including daily updates, email updates (important announcements and policy changes), incident reporting (any incidents, behavioural or medical concerns will be promptly communicated to the owners) and feedback welcome (I encourage open communication and welcome feedback about my services and your dog's experience).

Photos or videos taken during training sessions (where owners are present) may be used for social media or advertising purposes, with the client’s consent.

Photos or videos taken during walks, walk and train and training (where owners are not present) maybe used in any social media or advertising by Engaged Canine Services without prior approval. All such media remain the property of Engaged Canine Services.

If you do not agree to photos or videos being used, please ensure you have notified Engaged Canine Services.

The Client agrees to provide keys/arrange access to the dog for the agreed appointment; failure to do so will result in a cancellation for that day’s service and will be paid in full by the client.

All keys lent out to Engaged Canine Services will be stored appropriately in a lock-box storage system and only removed from this location when required to provide services.
-
Keys will never be labelled with your address or other personal details.
-
Keys will be used solely for pre-booked pop-ins/walks.

8. Intellectual Property

Any training plans, handouts, or materials provided by the trainer remain the intellectual property of the trainer and cannot be reproduced or distributed without permission.

9. Force Majeure
-
The trainer will not be liable for any delay or cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to extreme weather, accidents, illness, or public health restrictions.

10. Governing Law
-
These terms and conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Agreement
By booking and attending sessions with Engaged Canine Services, the client agrees to abide by these terms and conditions.
